Class Teachers

Sheila Berotti

Sheila Berotti moved to San Francisco in 1996 after graduating from Bard College with a degree in Drama/Dance. She went to her first Yoga class here at Pretzel's in 1998 and has been working with her ever since. She feels tremendously fortunate to participate in the continuing study and practice of Yoga at Pretzel's studio. Recently, Sheila has had the opportunity to teach Pilates classes as well, a technique she first learned in 1995.

You can also find Sheila in Noh Space where she studies the ancient performance art of Japanese Noh (drama) and Kyogen (comedy) with the Theatre of Yugen. Look for upcoming performances and events at www.theatreofyugen.org.

Tristan

Tristan has been studying with Pretzel since the year 2000, and he's looking forward to 100 more years of yoga!

Tristan loves to see his students discover the asanas through his gentle guidance. He believes the balance and continuity of an asana series draws the mind into a similar smooth flow. One of his greatest rewards as a teacher is to watch a student discover a few moments of focus and calmness at the center of their practice.

Stephan

Stéphane moved from France to San Francisco in early 1998 to work as a software engineer for a French company; he soon sought for something to alleviate the stress and to counterbalance his sedentary life.

The journey started with Iyengar classes where he learned the basics of yoga alignment and philosophy. He spent a year and a half on this journey and studied with different teachers. He soon realized that the more he practiced yoga the more challenging it became: The yoga system was revealing itself slowly and his interest was rising.

In 2000 he started practicing Ashtanga yoga and that was the beginning of a new adventure. He especially enjoyed the flowing aspect of the practice and the natural rhythm of the sequences  based on his own breath. What began as an experiment soon became part of his own lifestyle. He soon established a daily practice and the effects became too obvious to miss: A stronger immune system, a stronger body, more joy, and a sense of feeling more in touch with oneself.

During those years he also discovered Shadow yoga, which incorporates some martial arts and dance sequences. He decided to incorporate some of those forms in his own practice and felt he should share it with others. In the spring 2006 he went to a teacher training in Boulder, CO, with R. Freeman and came back with the intention of teaching.

A few months later, he met Pretzel and she graciously offered him to teach at her studio. That was the beginning of a new endeavor, one he is inviting you to participate in. Come join the dance!
